For thirty years I have been creating Nantucket Lightship Baskets. More importantly, I have been committed to maintaining the integrity of the craft - in tribute to both the basketmakers of the New South Shoal lightship and the craftsmen who passed their knowledge on to me.
Working predominantly in maple or cherry, I enjoy creating large pieces, incorporating details of the baskets made on the New South Shoal such as the maple, double-handled oval market basket shown above.
My purses, while also traditionally sturdy, have a more delicate look, incorporating finely-carved staves, narrow weavers and carefully-fashioned rims and handles.
